AVIMORE. Scottish, Strathspey (whole time). A Major/Mixolydian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. A strathspey composed by Inverness/Edinburgh dancing master and musician Biography:Joseph Lowe (1797-1866) that goes in and out of major and mixolydian mode. The village of Aviemore is located on the River Spey, across from the town of Rothiemurchus, in the Caringorm Mountains. The Spey in spate can deliver torrents of water, and bridges along its course, even though built for flood conditions, are often degraded or destroyed.
