DELNABO. Scottish, Strathspey. E Minor (Skinner): E Dorian (Perlman). Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB (Skinner): AABB (Perlman). Composed by J. Scott Skinner (1843-1927). Delnabo was the residence of a Colonel Smith, near 'Macpherson's cave'. In his note to the manuscript copy [1] Skinner suggests that the accompanying reel for this strathspey should be "Mains of Gartly", previously printed in his Logie Collection. Later, in 1908, he composed a "Reel for Denabo" specifically to go with this tune, and arranged it for two violins and cello [2]. (See also Skinner's "pastoral air" "MacPherson's Cave").
