Annotation:Each Night When I Slumber
Back to Each Night When I Slumber
EACH NIGHT WHEN I SLUMBER. Irish, Air (4/4 time). E Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). One part (Joyce): AB (Stanford/Petrie). "The words of this song show that it was composed in the time of the American War of Independence, that is, at the end of the eighteenth century. I never saw either words or air printed in any shape or form: they have been simply preserved in my own memory as I learned them unconsciously from hearing them sung at home when I was a boy" (Joyce).
