LADY ANN WHARTON DUFF'S STRATHSPEY. Scottish, Strathspey. B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. This strathspey was composed by William Marshall [1] (1748-1833).
According to Moyra Cowie (The Life and Times of William Marshall, 1999), Lady Ann (d. 1828) was a daughter of Lord Duff of Banff, and dwelt at Orton House, Inchberry, in Lower Speyside. She married her cousin, Richard Wharton in 1809.
