WALPOLE COTTAGE. English, March (cut time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). ABC. A dance and tune composed by English collector, composer and researcher Pat Shuldham-Shaw (1917-1977), in honor of Grace Duff Meikle and her friend and colleague Leonie Morris. Meikle, who died in 1982, was a student of Cecil Sharp, and a member and officer of the English Folk Dance and Song Society. "Walpole Cottage" was the name of their house in Chipstead, Surrey.
