BONNY LAD AND BONNY LASS, THE. Irish, Country Dance Tune (cut time). A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tune appears in John and William Neal's Choice Collection of Country Dances, printed in Dublin in 1726. While the volume contains some Irish melodies, the majority appear to be of English and/or Scots origin. The Neals (father and son) were musical instrument makers the foremost music publishers in the city at the time.
