CUBANOLA GLIDE. Old-Time, Country Rag. USA, Nebraska. F Major ('A' part) & B-Flat Major ('B' part). Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. "The Cubanola Glide" was a dance and song composed in 1909 by Tin-Pan-Alley composer Harry Von Tilzer (1872-1946). That same year Sophie Tucker did the Cubanola Glide on the Burlesque stage.

Way down in Cuba where skies are clear
Where it is summertime all of the year
They have the lovingest dance I know
Come along honey babe and I’ll show you

Get away closer hun, squeeze me tight!
Ragadag to the left then to the right
Shake it up, shake it up side be side
Cuddle right up to me as we slide.

Source for notated version: Bob Walters (Burt County, Nebraska), who said it was used at dances in the early 1900's at Decatur, Nebraska [Christeson].

Printed source: R.P. Christeson (Old Time Fiddlers Repertory, vol. 2), 1984; p.130.
