HOGSKIN. AKA - "Hog Skin." American, Reel (cut time). C Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB'. A 'crooked' (irregular meter) tune. The tune was collected from fiddlers (Paul Goodman, Effie Pierson) in Owsley County, eastern Kentucky, in the mid-1970's. In 2010, Osley County, in the coalfield region, had the dubious distinction of being the poorest in the nation, in terms of income per household, with the second-highest level of child poverty of any county in the United States.
