BANJER-PICKIN' GIRL. American. Said to be an old mountain song, but unlike most old songs, it has few similarities to other old songs. More likely this was deliberately created fresh by someone with knowledge of this style of song. However, it's at least 70 years old today. The song was recorded in 1944 by the Coon Creek Girls, a stage group assembled by John Lair for his Cincinnati radio show.
