BIRTH OF KISSES, THE. English (?), Air or Jig (6/8 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBCCDD. A version of the melody was used for the song "When I gaed to the mill," printed in James Johnson's Scots Musical Museum, vol. IV (Song 505, p. 521). John Glen (Early Scots Melodies, 1900) says of the "Museum" air: "there is a considerable touch of the Irish style about it, which is even more pronounced in the version Johnson gives in the Museum."
