ENFIELD CHACE. Scottish(?), Jig (6/8 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. The Chace was mentioned in the reign of Edward II. Enfield Chace, Middlesex, was inclosed in 1777. A small gothic cross was erected in the marketplace in 1826 with the inscription:

A forest for her pride, though titled but a chance,
Her purilieus and her parks, her circuit full as large
As some, perhaps, whose state requires as greater charge.
