GEORGIA WOBBLE BLUES. American, Country Rag (cut time) and song. F Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. "Georgia Wobble Blues" was one of only two tunes (along with "Rome Georgia Bound") recorded in Atlanta, Georgia, in March, 1930, by the group The Carroll County Revelers (referring to the west Georgia county of that name). The group consisted of fiddler Jess Chamblis and his brother Henry on guitar and vocals, along the their first cousin, Uncle John Patterson. The colorful Patterson was born in Carroll County in 1910 and won acclaim while still in his teens for his performances of traditional banjo tunes at the Georgia Old-Time Fiddlers’ Convention in Atlanta. Known as "The Banjo King," Patterson's musical career spanned six decades before he died in 1980. In 1968 he was elected to the Georgia state legislature, serving until 1974. Little is known about the Chamblie brothers.
