LADS OF THE SHAWS. Scottish. John Glen (1891) finds the earliest appearance of the tune in print in Joshua Campbell's Collection of Newest and Best Reels and Minuets (1778, p. 16), printed in Glasgow by James Aird. The title perhaps has to do with 'weapon shaws' (see note for "annotation:Weapon Shaw (The)").
