LADY CHARLOTTE MENZIES. Scottish, Reel. F Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. The tune appears in Malcolm MacDonald's 4th collection, a volume dedicated to the Countess of Breadalbane. Lady Charlotte Menzies (1775-1832) was the eldest daughter of John Murray, fourth Duke of Atholl and widow of Sir John Menzies of Castle Menzies, Perthshire, whom she married in 1797 (the year MacDonald's collection of tunes was issued). He died three years later, and there was no issue from the first marriage. She married secondly vice-admiral Adam Drummond, 7th of Megginch (1771-1849) by whom she had four sons and one daughter.
