John Glen (1891) finds the earliest appearance of this tune in print in Joshua Campbell's Collection of Newest and Best Reels and Minuets (1778, p. 59). Robert Petrie published it as "Miss Kinloch's Reel" in his Third Collection of Strathspey Reels (1802).
