MISS MARY WALKER [OF PETERHEAD]. AKA and see "Margaret Walker," "Mary Walker." Scottish, Reel (whole time). B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). One part. "Miss Mary Walker" was composed by Aberdeenshire fiddler-composer and Scottish dancing master wikipedia:James_Scott_Skinner (1843-1927), the melody (without the 'Miss' in the title) appears in his Scottish Violinist (1900) collection. Skinner's footnote in his Miller o' Hirn (1881) states the "Miss Mary Walker" and "Mrs. Andrew Kidd" "please me well for my concerts as they have nothing of the 'doodle' in them. They were composed in Peterhead in April, 1876, and remarkably well played on the piano by Mrs. Kidd."

See also versions under title "Margaret Walker" (by which title it was recorded by Belfast fiddler Seán Maguire).
