PIPE MAJOR THOMAS MACALLISTER. AKA - "Links of Forth (The)," "Tom MacAllister." Scottish, Pipe March (2/4 or cut time). A Mixolydian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBCCDDEEFFGGHH. The MacAllister family leaders of the thelegendary Shotts & Dykehead Caledonia Pipe Band starting with Glasgow-raised Tom MacAllister who was Pipe Major from 1929-1954. Hewas seen as a founder of the modern pipe band, responsible for standardizing, among other things, the two three-paced roll and chanter introduction. He was followed as Pipe Major by his sons John and Tom. "Pipe Major Thomas MacAllister" has been called "greatest pipe band competition tunes."
