SILKEN ARTICLE, THE. AKA - "Silk Article, The." AKA and see "Slip Jig (7)." Irish, Slip Jig (9/8 time). D Major (Holden): B Flat Major (Haverty). Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. "The Silken Article" probably refers to underwear. The tune was collected as an untitled slip jig and was printed by Charles Villiers Stanford in his Complete Collection of Petrie's Irish Music (1905, No. 948, p. 241).
