"Step Stately [2]" is an English country dance and tune that was first printed by London publisher John Playford in the his first edition of The English Dancing Master (London, 1651). It was retained in the long-running Dancing Master series of editions through the tenth edition of 1698, then published by John's son, Henry. It was dropped from subsequent editions.
