The tune was first published in London by music publisher John Walsh in his Third Book of the Compleat Country Dancing Master (editions of 1735 and 1749), followed by an appearance in Daniel Wright's Wright's Compleat Collection of celebrated country Dances, published by John Johnson in 1740.
