TEA GARDENS. Canadian, Jig (6/9 time). Canada; Cape Breton, Prince Edward Island. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA’BB’. Composed by fiddler Angus Chisholm (1908-1979) while waiting for a bus in front of the Tea Gardens Chinese restaurant in Sydney, Cape Breton. The fiddler scribbled enough of the composition on a scrap to enable him to remember it when he got home. Chisholm is thought by many to be the greatest Cape Breton fiddler of all time, and "Tea Gardens" is the only tune he composed that he himself recorded.
