Annotation talk:Valse Philippe

Find traditional instrumental music

I just dug out my copy of Gilles Losier's record La Belle Acadie and the liner notes do say that he composed this tune. However it is common knowledge (or at least common belief) in Québec trad-music circles that the tune was composed by Guy Loyer, a box player and a student of Philippe Bruneau for many years. I will look into the matter and ask Losier and Loyer as soon as I next come across them, and seek confirmation from other knowledgeable sources. ~Steve Jones 2014-08-04

2014-08-06: Have reinstated Gilles Losier as the composer and removed links to recordings and ABC transcription, all of which were of a different tune, which I will now create as Hommage à Philippe Bruneau (2). Please note that the title given in The Waltz Book II is incorrect - Losier did not call it "Valse Philippe" but "La Valse à Philippe" - the "à" makes a considerable difference. ~~Steve Jones
