C. N. E. BREAKDOWN. Canadian, Breakdown. A Major ('A' part) & E Major ('B' part). Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Composed by Ontario fiddler Ward Allen (1924-1965), who won numerous contests in the 1950's and who carved out a successful career as a radio fiddler. "C.N.E. Breakdown" is one of his more popular compositions, named for the Canadian National Exhibition, a fair held each year in August over an 18-day period in Toronto. It hosts a prestigious and popular old-time fiddle contest.
