CAPTAIN McINTOSH [2]. AKA and see "Captain Macintosh's Fancy." AKA - "Captain MacIntosh (1)." Scottish, Country Dance Tune (whole time or 2/4). A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. "Captin McIntosh [2]" is a country dance version of "Captain MacIntosh (1)," greatly simplified but essentially the same melody. The Gows include the tune in their 1788 2nd Collection, in a section denoted for country dances fashionable in Edinburgh in the 1787-88 season. The melody appears as "Captain Macintosh's Fancy" in the key of 'D' major in the music manuscript collection of the Winder family of Dolphinhome, Wyresdale, Lancashire, penned by various members (and generations) of the family from 1789 to 1841.
