CARIBOU BARREN. Canadian, Jig. Canada, Cape Breton. C Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB'. Composed by Cape Breton fiddler and composer Dan R. MacDonald (1911-1976). Barren-ground caribou are distinct from mountain caribou and woodland caribou and inhabit the Canadian and Alaska tundra regions. However, the title refers to a plain of low vegetation nearby to Island Barren and Bakeapple Barren in Inverness County, Cape Breton.
