DEAN MASSEY. Irish, Air or Planxty. Composed by blind Irish harper Turlough O'Carolan (1670-1738) in 1720 on the occasion of his visit to Charles and Grace Massey (nee Miss Grace Dillon) at Doonass, County Clare. Charles Massey was the Dean of Limerick and a great admirer of the bard. The only portrait of O'Carolan was drawn at this time by a Dutch artist who was in the neighborhood.
