DELTINGSIDE. Shetland, Reel (cut time). Shetland, Unst and Mainland districts. A Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. The tune has decided resemblance to the Scottish stathspey "Delvin Side (2)", and the names are similar; the Shetland Reel may be a derivative of the older strathspey, however distanced it may be. "Delvin Side" refers to a river in Scotland, while 'Deltingside' is a mainland Shetland district called Delting, located between Olna Firth and Dales Voe. Source John Stickle had no name for the tune, although others supplied the name "Deltingside" to collector Pat Shaw.

Source for notated version: John Stickle (1875-1957, Unst/Lerwick) [Shuldham-Shaw].
