DOWN ON THE L & N. Old-Time, Breakdown. A "ragtime breakdown" that Alabama fiddler Charlie Stripling (1896-1966) either composed himslef for round dancing, or (according to his son, Lee) was a tune he collected on the Louisville and Nashville Railroad (which passed near the Stripling home town of Kennedy, Alabama). In the case of the latter, Stripling did not catch the title, so instead named it for the environment he learned it in [liner notes to Voyager VRCD 349].
