DRUMIN [1]. Scottish, Strathspey. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Composed by Scots fiddler-composer J. Scott Skinner (1843-1927). Skinner's handwritten note on his original manuscript [1] reads: "To W. Skinner Esq. Factor, Drumin, in whose possession lies one of Wm. Marshall's violins." William Marshall (1748-1833) of Fochabers, was the butler and steward of the Duke of Gordon, an inventor, mathemetician, clock maker, and skilled violinist and composer.
