EARLY MORN (Lancashire) CLOG. American, Clog. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Composed by Edwin Christie, a composer of popular songs and light pieces in New England in the second half of the 19th century. He is sometimes confused with Edwin Pearce Christy, of black-faced minstrel fame, who led the troupe Christy's Minstrels. Christie has been called a "respected, if not entirely successful" journeyman composer, who probably lived in the Boston area. He contributed several tunes to Ryan's Mammoth Collection, and a number of his songs and dance compositions can be viewed at the American Memory site [1].
