FAIRLIE CASTLE. Scottish, Strathspey. B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Fairlie is on the coast of the Firth of Clyde, western Scotland, and looks to the Isle of Arran. The castle was a smallish block tower built in the 15th century by the Ross family, who adopted the name of Fairlie, and it remained in the family hands until the mid-1600's. Two centuries later it was in ruins, and remained so for some time until being sold in modern time for conversion to dwellings.
