FAMOUS BALLYMOTE, THE. AKA and see "Pride of Ahamore," "Sporting Days of Easter (4) (The)." Irish, Reel. D Mixolydian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Mid-19th century uillean piper and cleric James Goodman included a version of the tune in his large manuscript collection as "Sporting Days of Easter (4) (The)." Researchers Conor Ward and Fr. John Quinn also link the tune with "Marquis of Huntly's (4) Reel," Goodman's "Roast Beef from London," Donnellan's "Pleasant Gardens (The)," "Skibbereen Lasses (The)," "Pride of Ahamore," and, distantly , Donnellan's "Rock Reel (The)."
