FATHER HANLEY'S JIG. AKA and see "House in the Glen (3) (The)," "Rambler (2) (The)." Irish, Jig. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tune was composed by Tommy Sullivan of Springfield, Mass., according to Jerry O'Brien's tutor. O'Brien was Boston button accordion player Joe Derrane's mentor, and Derrane remembers Sullivan writing out the tune for O'Brien for his publication. "Father Hanley" was recorded on 78RPM disc in 1924 by Sligo fiddler James "The Professor" Morrison in New York under the title "The Rambler." The melody shares a similar second part with the Scottish "Teviot Bridge."
