FOUR SEASONS [3], THE. AKA - "Four Seasons of the Year." English, Jig. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). This melody was printed in Thompson's Compleat Tutor for the Hautboy (London, 1790), Skillern's Compleat Collection of Two Hundred & Four Reels....Country Dances (London, 1780), and, in America, Joshua Cushing's Fifer's Companion, No. 1 (Salem, Mass., 1805), The melody appears in the manuscript flute books of Geoge Willis (1795), Ralph Pomeroy (1790), and the commonplace books of Cushing Eells (Norwich, Ct., 1789) and Henry Beck (1786), and the copybook of Silas Dickinson (Amherst, Ma., c. 1800).
