FROM FRISCO TO CAPE COD. United States, Waltz. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The melody was composed by Ernst Rolf (there were also lyrics, by Martin Nilsson). An instrumental version was recorded for Victor in 1927 and issued on a 78 RPM by the Minneapolis based Swedish-American group Hjalmar Peterson and his Hobo Orchestra, whose hey-day was the 1920's-1940's. The recording was marketed to the Scandinavian community in the Midwest US and Canada, and also appears with labels in giving the title as "Från Frisco till Cap (Vals)," "Friskosta Cape Cod 'iin," and "De Frisco au Cape Cod." Peterson's orchestra (violin, guitar, banjo, piano, accordion, drums) included Carson Robison on guitar, who later rose to fame as an solo early country music star.
"Cap" in the title refers to the Cape of Good Hope, not to Cape Cod.
