GALLEYNIPPER. Old-Time. USA, Ky. A Major. Learned by northeast Ky. fiddler J.P. Fraley from his father. Guthrie Meade (1980) states this tune is associated with eastern Kentucky and West Virginia fiddlers. A galleynipper (or galley napper) is a crane fly, or, historically, a large mosquito.
