The air was first printed in John Playford's Dancing Master, 3rd edition, 1657, and was retained in all subsequent editions of the Dancing Master, through the 18th and last edition of 1728. It also can be found in the several editions of John Walsh's Complete Country Dancing Master, beginning with the edition of 1718.
