GATHER YE ROSEBUDS. English, Air (4/4 time). G Mixolydian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. The air was composed by William Lawes and appears in John Playford's Ayres and Dialogues (1659) and Introduction to Music (1660); Musick's Delight on the Cithren (1666), and Musical Companion (1667). The words are by Herrick and are addressed "To the Virgins, to make much of Time"; it was popular in its time.
