HAGG'S CASTLE [1]. Scottish, Strathspey. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Composed by biography:Carl Volti, born Archibald Milligan in Glasgow in 1849. Volti, a fiddler, composed many tunes found in the Kerr's collections and also published several tutors, albums of popular songs, national overtures, etc. (Nigel Gatherer). Hagg's Castle is a 400 year old manor [1] near Glasgow built around a tower house. It takes its name from boggy marshes or haggs that were nearby. See also the companion reel, "Hagg's Castle (2)."
