HAL SCOTT'S SPECIAL. Old-Time, Breakdown. USA, Missouri. Howard Marshall informs that Harold Scott was a Kirksville, Linn County, north-central Missouri, fiddler who competed in some of the WOS radio contests with Dolph Wilson in the 1920's. Marshall's source's [1], 1912-2008) father had the tune from Scott and named it in his honor. Wilson talks about his father "rolling the fiddle" on his 1995 and attempts the same maneuver in the first two measures. "Hap Scott's Special" is a popular tune in Little Dixie (Mo.) repertoire.
