HALF-SHAVED NIGGER[1]. American, Reel. Wade Ward (of Independence, Va.) played a piece with a similar title on Rounder CD 0028 ("High Atmosphere"). However, Mike Yates (2002) records that Fields Ward knew both Wade's tune and the "Half-Shaved N....r" played by Dent Wimmer (Floyd, Floyd County, Va.), and said that his uncle was confused about two tune titles and made a mistake in naming the tune on his album. Thus, according to Fields Ward, Wimmer's tune is correctly titled.
