HONORABLE MRS. DRUMMOND OF PERTH'S DELIGHT. Scottish, Jig (6/8 time). A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. The melody appears in Malcolm MacDonald of Dunkeld's (Perthshire) 3rd Collection (c. 1792), dedicated to Miss Drummond of Perth. The Mrs. was presumably her mother, Clementina Elphinstone (1749–1822), who had married James Drummond in 1785. She was the fourth and youngest daughter of Charles Elphinstone, 10th Lord Elphinstone. James and Clementina had three children, although only the eldest, Clementina Sarah (1786–1865), survived childhood. James Drummond was created a British peer with the title of Lord Perth in 1797 and died a few years later. Clementina, then Lady Perth, outlived him by twenty years and died in her house on Park Street, London.
