HOUSE ON THE HILL [2], THE. AKA and see "Brook (The)," "Martin Mulhaire's (3)," "Pat Molloy's." Irish, Reel. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). East Galway-born button accordionist and renowned composer Martin Mulhaire named this tune after the home place of his wife Carmel in Coolpowra, Co. Galway. It is among the compositions notated by Brendan Dolan and played by Mulhaire on the mulhairemusic.com site. According to that site, "Mahoney's house on the hill has the most breathtaking views situated between Ballinasloe and Portumna."

A competing claim of authorship was asserted by the late Pat Molloy, a fiddler for whom an annual festival in Birmingham, England has been dedicated.
