INVERNESS JIG [1]. Canadian; Jig. Canada; Cape Breton, Prince Edward Island. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'BB'. Composed by J.D. Kennedy. The name Inverness means 'mouth of the river Ness'. Ness was the name of a legendary Irish queen, mother of Conchubar, who is supposed to have ruled in Ulster at the time of Christ (though the river name may be older). However, the title refers not to Inverness, Scotland, but rather the town of Inverness, Cape Breton.
