JAMES McMURROUGH (Seamus Mac Murchadha). Irish, Air. Ireland, Ulster. Three versions of the song (two from Omeath and one from Donegal) appear in Father L. O Muiri's (Muireadhach Meith) Ambrain Chuige Uladh (1927). James McMurrough was an 18th century Irish hero who was hanged in Armagh.
