JAN'S TUNE. Old-Time, Two-Step {?}. C Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB (Silberberg): AABB (Milliner & Koken, Phillips). The tune was collected by Brad Leftwich from the playing of fiddler Tom Fuller of Mina, Arkansas, as an untitled tune. Mina is in southeastern Ouachita, a region that has geological and cultural similarities to the Appalachian region. Leftwich recorded it as "Jan's Tune" after Tom's daughter, Jan, as it was her favorite tune. See also similarities in Marion Thede's "Oklahoma Run" and "Smoky Row." Parts reversed from each other in some versions.
