JENNY NETTLE'S FANCY. AKA and see "Jennie Pipin/Jenny Pipin," "Paul Montegue's Reel," "Tommy Peoples' Reel (1)." Irish, Reel. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. The tune has numerous associations with Irish music, and and probably has an Irish provenance. Alternate titles include "Frankie Kennedy's" and "Jackie Daly's," for the famous Irish flute and accordion players, respectively. Irish-American fiddler Eileen Ivers recorded it as "Paul Montegue's Reel" and the Donegal group Altan released it as "Tommy Peoples' Reel (1)". It is barely related to Marion Thede's old-time Midwest version of "Jenny Nettles (2)."

"Jenny Nettles Fancy" has currency among Cape Breton fiddlers, albeit the version played there is somewhat distanced from Ryan's 1883 tune.
