MR. D. BRIDGE’S REEL. Scottish, Reel. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. The tune appears in James Aird’s Selection of Scotch, English, Irish and Foreign Airs, vol. V (1797, p. 37), Glasgow, Scotland. It also can be found, as “Miss D. Bridges Reel”, in the music manuscript collection of fiddler John Burks (1821). Unfortunately, nothing is known of Burks, although he may have been from the north of England. The tune was also entered into the large 1840 music manuscript collection (p. 198) of multi-instrumentalist John Rook, of Waverton, near Wigton, Cumbria, who copied (note-for-note) a good many of the tunes from Aird's 5th collection..
