MR. MACKAYS REEL. Scottish, Reel. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Composed by Malcolm MacDonald, the melody appears in his first collection, dedicated to Mrs. Baird of Newbyth. Little is known of MacDonald, save that he resided at Inver, near Dunkeld, Perthshire (home of Niel Gow), for his residence is listed with the subscribers to Gow's Second Collection. MacDonald is also recorded as having played the cello in accompaniment to Niel Gow after the death of the latter's brother.
