MRS. FRANK WALKER. Scottish, Strathspey. F Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. Composed by Niel Gow Jr. (c. 1795-1823), son of Nathaniel Gow (1763-1831) and grandson of Niel Gow (1727-1807). Young Niel (whose name was spelled variously as 'Niel', like his grandfather, or 'Neil') was a good performer and a prominsing composer whose career was cut short by an early death. He worked for a time in his father’s Edinburgh publishing business. Mrs. Walker’s spouse was also honoured by a strathspey (“Mr. Frank Walker”) composed by Nathaniel Gow, appearing in the Beauties of Niel Gow (1828) but published on a sheet by Gow & Shepherd in 1802.
